Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton turned over the scoreboard in the Clipper gym on Monday during a 105-41 boys varsity non-conference win
The Bulldogs took the jump ball in for a score, but Kale Kelley put in a basket from the floor, Kyle Connor made a pair of free shots, and Carson Lyons looped in a three to put the Clippers up 7-4.
The lead was short-lived though as the Bulldogs went on the steal, including once during a Clipper in-bounds pass, to score the next 19 points before Blake Lyons hooked in a basket to put a stop to the rally.
Later, Blake Lyons, who led the Clipper effort with 16 points, drove for a bucket, and Connor scored on a jumper, but after a Blake Lyons free shot, the Bulldogs were out front 34-14.
It didn’t help the Clippers that at the 7-minute mark, Jorden Rossow went down with a knee injury and had to be carried off.
Blake Lyons scored the next nine points for the Clippers. With a Kelley basket to end the half, the Bulldogs led 57-25.
Blake Lyons fought his way to the iron for the initial Clipper basket of the second half and followed up with a jumper, but the Bulldogs led 63-29.
Later, Connor scored twice with the first after a Carson Lyons assist. Down the stretch, Alex Johnson came in strong off the bench when he pulled down an offensive rebound and scored and followed up with a jumper from the paint for a basket.
Also off the bench during the mercy clock, Bode Bartell made a pair of free shots before the Bulldogs put an exclamation mark on the win with a three.
With nine points, Connor continues to show he can be a factor. Kelley and Carson Lyons each had five points. Johnson added four points, and Bartell chipped in two points.
The Clippers had only one three and were eight of 17 from the infraction stripe. The Bulldogs, 11-12 with the win, made five threes and were successful in 75 percent of their 16 foul shots.
Rossow returned to the bench in the second half with his knee elevated and iced but did not think the injury was surgery serious.
The Clippers’ Tuesday game vs visiting Randolph and Thursday game against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown were canceled due to weather. They close out their regular season on Tuesday with a trip to Le Sueur to take on the 10-15 Giants.
