Shooting down 95 clay targets, Marty Gibbs (left) led the Clipper trap shooters at the state meet in Alexandria on June 17.
Overall for the day, the outgoing senior ranked 42nd out of 356 varsity shooters from Region 6A.
Gibbs’ younger brother Judd Gibbs (right), a freshman, had a perfect first round and shot a pair of 22s in the second round for a 94, 27 points better than his score in Alexandria a year ago. Marty Gibbs scored an 88 at state last year.
Also in the varsity ranks, Dakota Alitz, also a senior, shot a 92 for a 10-point improvement over 2022, and Jake Mueller, just a sixth grader, shot an 88.
Competing on the JV level, Colton Tousley shot a 78, Henry Boelter shot a 68, and Cole Stocker shot a 67. They are all eighth graders.
In the novice group, sixth grader John Ritchie scored a 65 while Abigail Osness, a junior, shot a 35.
The Clippers didn’t field the five shooters needed to qualify as a team in any rank.
Al told, some 8000 shooters participated in the state meet, which took place over several days.
