While float slogans like “Storm the Thunderbirds” and “There’s going to be some angry T-Birds tonight” maybe didn’t age so well, the “homecoming” parade made Tuesday a great day to be a Clipper.
Instead of the usual day-of-the-football game procession, the parade was postponed until after homecoming week due to Thursday’s inclement weather. But it was still an excellent vehicle for the students and staff to demonstrate their school spirit.
Before the homecoming football game, the elementary had a pep fest in the morning with a tug-o-war contest. The entire school gathered in the new gym in the afternoon for a pep fest, which featured football players vs teachers in volleyball and homecoming royalty vs teachers in a game of Family Feud, the pep band in full force and cheers by some of the elementary classes.
While the Clippers lost the football game to the GFW Thunderbirds 28-0, they played well against a ranked team, and the rain and mud will make the contest a memorable one.
On Friday, the homecoming dance, held in the old big gym, went on as usual.
