Unable to overcome an 11-point deficit at the intermission, the B-squad boys fell 39-29 to host Madelia on Thursday.
The Blackhawks stole and scored for the game’s first bucket. Nathan Seeman (above) drove for two to put the Clippers on the board. Alex Johnson took a Gavin Karels handoff in for a basket, Nathan Brink put in a jumper, and Karels penetrated inside two baskets, but the Clippers trailed 23-12 at the break.
The Clippers went to the perimeter in the second half. After threes from Karels and Brink and Alexander Kortuem, they were within five 29-24, but the Blackhawks responded with a trio of threes to halt the uprising.
Braeden Smith grabbed an O rebound and put it in for a bucket, and Brink hit a layup, but that was it for Clipper scoring, and Madelia hung on for the win.
Brink’s eight points paced the Clippers. Karels added seven points. Smith had five points and Kortuem contributed four points. Johnson totaled three points. Seeman had two points.
The Clippers made three threes and half of their eight foul shots. Madelia scored six times from three-point land and were three of five from the foul stripe.
