Sam Ternes drive

Trailing 30-17 with nine minutes left in the second half, the B boys rallied to lead visiting Lester Prairie 35-34, but the Bulldogs stepped outside the arc to regain the advantage and went on beat the Clippers 46-42.

The game was played in the old-big gym on Tuesday.

Sam Ternes stole at mid court and drove in for the layup (above) to start the run. Braeden Smith bagged a three, but the Clipper defense left a Bulldog wide open under the bucket for an easy basket.

But Smith sunk another three on the Clippers ensuing possession, and Gavin Karels hooked in a bucket from the lane. Alex Kortuem airmailed in a three, and the Clippers were within two baskets, 34-30.

Nathan Brink sunk a three, and Kortuem score from the floor for a one-point Clipper advantage before the Bulldogs regained the lead with a three.

Down the stretch, Kortuem took over for two more buckets, and Smith scored with a minute left, but the Clippers didn’t manage another basket. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs made five free shots and two baskets from the floor to hang on to the win.

Lester Prairie led 21-14 at halftime. Smith made a basket and four three throws while Kortuem added three points in the first frame.

Kortuem led the effort with 13 points. Nine of them came from three-point land. Smith, who only played in the second half, had eight points: a pair of threes and a two. Nathan Seeman put in a two pointer in the first half and a three pointer in the second for five points. Brink and Alex Johnson each had three points while Karels finished with two points.
