Visiting Lester Prairie took the varsity girls out behind the woodshed on Tuesday in a 56-21 whipping.
What they lacked in size, the Bulldogs made up in hustle. They scored the first 17 points, eight of them after steals, before the Clippers finally got on the board when Greta Hahn put in a three with 9:17 left in the half.
Later in the first frame, Delaney Thompson took an Ava Hahn toss up and in, and Mariah McCabe scored from the baseline, but that was it for the Clippers’ offense, and Lester Prairie was way out front, 30-7, at the break.
Ava Hahn took an in-bounds pass down the baseline and in for a bucket for the first Clipper points of the second half. Taylor McCabe and Addi Holden each put in a three. Mariah McCabe scored from outside, Taylor McCabe stole and drove the floor for a layup, and Thompson scored on a layup for the last Clipper basket.
Taylor McCabe led the effort with five points. Mariah McCabe and Thompson each had four points. Greta Hahn and Holden each had three points. Ava Hahn had two points.
The Clippers were off target on all four of their foul shots. Lester Prairie bagged five threes and were five for 12 in free throw shooting.
The Clippers return to action today (Thursday) when they road trip to Randolph for a 7:15 game. Tomorrow, they travel to Mankato Loyola.
