2020 vb youth camp

While varsity volleyball players helped put on a youth volleyball camp last Saturday and Sunday, some of them were attendees back in 2019, when a Clipper volleyball camp for elementary students last took place.

Senior captain Savannah Meyer organized the camp, which was held for two hours each of the two days in the new gym. Her mom Bree Meyer arranged the camp five years ago. Covid put a kibosh on the camp in 2020, and, until last weekend, there hasn’t been one since.

Helping coach this year were Ava Hahn, Delaney Thompson, Jocelyn Kortuem, Taylor McCabe, Sophie Perkins, Melia Sathoff, Anika Sathoff, Lacey McCabe and Luci Blaschko. Although she runs cross country instead of playing volleyball, Charlotte Meyer also assisted at the camp.

The 32 K-6 graders who attended worked on the basics of passing, setting, hitting and serving, and played cooperative games.

For the kindergarteners who attended, the camp was an opportunity to visit the school and meet some of the volleyball players.

Proceeds from the camp went to the Clipper varsity volleyball program.

Youth will have another opportunity to attend a Clipper volleyball camp sometime in the near future when Meyer, who has verbally committed this spring to play volleyball at Minnesota State University, Mankato in the fall of 2025 with Emily Kern (CHS 2022), will host a libero camp.
