While senior libero Savannah Meyer didn’t get to celebrate her 1000th dig on her home court, her teammates and a few fans recognized the milestone, which she achieved against Sebeka at the Burnsville Volleyball Center on Friday.
Meyer, who joins 1000-dig club members Emma Sweere (2023) and McKenna Robb (2020), said setting goals early in a career helped her achieve the landmark.
“I think it starts by training hard when you’re younger so that when you are a freshman or sophomore you get to be on varsity level. You get those touches and build up your skill to the libero spot, where you get to play defense the whole time and get to just go after everything.”
At the tournament, the Clippers down Sebeka 20-25, 25-17, 15-4 but lost to MACCRAY 25-22, 22-25, 12-15.
On Saturday, they lost to Mabel Canton 15-25, 19-25. In bracket play, they fell to Spring Grove 20-25, 26-28 but beat Fillmore Central 25-17, 25-17.
Meyer, who needed eight digs coming into the tournament to achieve 1000, finished with 55. She also set up one point.

Anika Sathoff had 27 kills, seven digs, one block assist and three ace serves.
