The Nicollet Raiders were easy pickings when they came to town for a varsity volleyball match.

It opened with back-to-back kills by Melia Sathoff and Anika Sathoff. The Raiders kept in the game, but Ava Hahn swatted two kills in a row to tie the game 6-6. With another Hahn kill two ace serves by her, the second falling off the table, The Clippers led 10-7.

Sophie Perkins went on the attack with a kill, and Delaney Thompson, getting into a game for the first time since last winter due to an injury, served an ace. With a Jocelyn Bartell ace block, the Clippers led 15-9.

The Raiders sent over a kill, but and the Clippers went on a scoring frenzy with Melia Sathoff ace serves and Hahn kills. After another Raider kill, the ensuing serve went out of bounds, and the game ended 25-11.  

Game two started with a Maya Lassiter ace serve. Later, Bartell smashed a couple of kills to put the Clippers in front 7-3, and they didn’t hold back from there. Addi Holden’s kill put the Clippers way up top, 23-6. The Raiders scored the next six points with winners from a pair of service aces, but the game ended 25-12 on a hit out of bounds.

Hahn’s kill in game three was the first Clipper winer and put them up 4-1. From there, Savannah Meyer dispatched a service ace, Taylor McCabe posted an ace block, and Hahn and Melia Sathoff dropped down kills for a 11-4 Clipper advantage.

With a McCabe kill followed by a pair of Holden kills, the Clippers led 20-11. Down the stretch, Keira Schipper followed an ace block with a kill for a 24-14 Cleveland lead. The game ended 25-15 on an Evelyn Keltgen ace block.

Hahn totaled 11 kills, five digs and three ace serves. Melia Sathoff had five kills, five digs, six service aces and one block assist. Anika Sathoff had four kills and two digs. Bartell had two kills, two digs, two solo ace blocks and one ace block assist. Holden had three kills and one dig. McCabe had three kills, one ace block, two digs and one set assist. Perkins set up 23 points and had three kills, nine digs and one ace serve. Maile Meissner had one kill. Jocelyn Kortuem had two set assists and two digs. Meyer had 19 digs, two sets assists and two ace serves. Lacey McCabe had six digs. Lassiter served an ace. Thompson served two aces.

In a non-conference matchup, the Clippers host Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial tonight (Monday).
