Molly Stoffel is one of three candidates on the ballot. It is her first time running for the school board.
What is your background? I have been a part of the Cleveland Community since my husband and I bought our house in 2013. My husband graduated from Cleveland High School in 2008. We have three children. Both our older children attend Cleveland Public School and our youngest goes to Anders Learning Center. I graduated from Concordia University with an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s Degree in Family Life Education. My entire career has centered around children and families. I currently work in Children’s Mental Health for Blue Earth County.
What motivates you to run for the board? I truly value our school and the small community we have supporting our school systems. I want to make sure our school continues to run smoothly and that the best interests for our children and community are being upheld. I want to make a difference in our school system and make sure our children’s best interests are being valued.
What perspective do you bring to the board that may differ from others? I have a strong background and knowledge on families and children and tend to always make sure their needs and best interests are being heard. I want to make sure needs are being met and voices are being heard.
What is your position on the operating referendum special election? I believe Cleveland offers many great opportunities for our students, and in order to continue to do this, we need to look in the best financial decision, which is work towards getting a referendum approved.
What will be your top priority if elected? My top priority not only as a school board member but as a community member and parent is to make sure we are advocating for what’s best for the district and are providing our district with the best possible opportunities, teachers, staff and administration.
