Pruning over 18 seconds off her PR and leading the Crusaders girls team to a first-place finish, Charlotte Meyer was Charlotte Meyer on the Sleepy Eye Golf Course last Thursday.
Not to be outdone, the Crusader boys also fielded the gold medalist, Soren Kelley, who also set a PR, and the team also took first place.
With a 18.25.16 finish, Meyer’s nearest of the 68 other competitors was just shy of a minute behind her.
Also for the Crusaders, Izzy Endres finished in eighth place with a 21:14.67, Valeri Quast was ninth with a 21:18.25 and Charlotte Kirschner was 17th with a 22:43.07.
Not far behind the Crusader front five, Molly Koester was 21st with a 22:55.98, and Teya Waagner was 24th with a 23:05.65.
With a 50, the first five Crusader girls were four points better than Springfield/Cedar Mountain. Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey was third with an 81, MVL was fourth with a 120, Lester Prairie was fifth with a 133, LCWM/Nicollet was sixth with a 137, Central (NYA) was seventh with a 158, and Watertown-Mayer was eighth with a 162.
Kelly finished the course in 16:26.42. Sam Vetter was fourth among the 85 runners with a 17:08.18. TJ Waldron was not far behind, finishing in sixth place with a PR 17:14.85. Mitchell Buboltz was fourth for the Crusaders and 15th overall with a PR 18:06.51. Rounding out the top five, Kyle Zimmerman was 16th with an 18:09.21.
Chase Kijenski finished 24th with a PR18:39.17. Rollie Matejcek was 27th with a PR 19:42.38, and Francis Bierer was 31st with a 19:06.65.
Andrew Tieva was 39th with a PR 19:49.29, George Crimmins was 45th with a PR 20:09.99, and Elijah Mons was 65th with a 21:35.99. Grayson Fenske-Deichman was 69th with a 22:19.00, and Jax Leagjeld was 75th with a PR 22:57.38.
The Clippers totaled 42 points. Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey was second with an 82, Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s/Sleepy Eye Public was third with an 82, MVL was fifth with a 120, LCWM/Nicollet was sixth with a 164, Central (NYA) was seventh with a 171, Lester Prairie was eighth with a 200, and Watertown Mayer was ninth with a 215.
In the boys 1600, Griffin Rutz was third among the 28 runners with a PR 5:58.79. Reece Nelson was seventh with a PR 6:12.91. Luke Phillips was ninth with a 6:26.98, Andrew Bales was 10th with a 6:28.97, Benton Atwood was 16th with a 6:38.42, William Hagen was 19th with a 6:48.27, Brian Buboltz was 20th with a 6:49.85, Ethan Beenken was 21st with a 6:53.26, and Jacob Walser was 23rd with a 7:11.18.
Crusader Riley Quigley won the girls 1600 with a PR 6:14.51 finish. Harper Rutz was eighth among the 18 runners with a 7:17.19, Brooks Waagner was 11th with a 7:30.04, and Eden Koester was 12th with a 7:41.73.
The Crusaders return to action today (Thursday) with a meet in Madelia.
