With a sweep of Martin County West at Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Thursday, the third-seeded Clipper volleyball team will take second seeded Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart tonight (Tuesday, October 29) at 7:45pm at St. Peter High School.
BLHS, currently 26-3, beat seventh-seeded BOLD 3-2 in the quarterfinals and swept Mankato Loyola in the second round. Last year, BOLD edged the Clippers 3-2 in the section semi-final.
Teams the Clippers have played in common with BLHS include Alden-Conger, New Ulm Cathedral and Wabasso. The Warriors lost 3-0 to Alden-Conger, swept NUC and beat Wabasso 3-2. The Clippers lost to Alden-Conger 3-2, topped NUC 3-1 and swept Wabasso.
On the other side of Section 2A, top-ranked Mayer Lutheran will take on fourth-seeded Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s in the 6:00 game. Mayer Lutheran won the section every hear since 2016 except in 2019.
Also at SPHS, the section championship is at 6:00 on Thursday.
The Clippers topped MCW 25-19, 25-17, 25-18.
Savannah Meyer had 15 digs, one ace serve and a pair of set assists. Ava Hahn had 13 kills, 14 digs and six service aces. Jocelyn Bartell had one dig, one ace block assist and two kills. Lacey McCabe had four digs and a pair of set assists. Sophie Perkins set for 26 assists. She also had eight digs, two kills, three service aces and one solo ace block.
Melia Sathoff had six digs, a dozen kills and one ace block assist. Anika Sathoff had two digs, one ace serve, two kills, one set assist and one ace block assist. Jocelyn Kortuem had one dig and one set assist. Luci Blaschko had one dig. Taylor McCabe had one dig, one solo ace block, one assisted ace block and two kills.
