Brooke Bosse breakaway

Limiting visiting Madelia to just four points, the B girls cruised to an easy-peasy win on Thursday.

Emma Kortuem put an Ava Kluntz toss in for a three for the game’s first basket, and the Clippers were off to the races.

Olivia Reinhardt scored on an inbounds pass and then airmailed a three to put the Clippers in front 8-0 before Madelia got on the board on a run-jump basket.

From there, Kortuem robbed an in-bounds pass that got away from the Blackhawks and took it in for a layup and followed up with another three for the first five points of a 19-point Clipper run, which included a Kaitlyn Flowers basket from the baseline, another Kortuem three, a Harper Rutz three and a layup, and baskets by Kluntz and Brooke Bosse after they pulled down offensive rebounds.

Each with basket from the floor, Cecelia Gair and Taylor Wolf got in the books before the break—Wolf’s points came after she hauled in her own rebound—and the Clippers were way out front, 31-4, at halftime.

With Flowers, Rutz and Kortuem sidelined for the second half, Bosse went to work with four two-point baskets, mostly layups (above), a three-point basket and a free basket. Reinhardt added a two-pointer and a pair of threes. Kiya Sohn popped in a basket from the corner, and Wolf sunk back-to-back free shots.

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks couldn’t buy another basket, and the Clippers cakewalked to the triumph.

With 14 points, Bosse led the effort. Reinhardt had 13 points, nine of them from three-point country. Kortuem also bagged a trio of threes en route to 11 total points. Rutz had a three and a two for five points. Wolf had four points, and Flowers, Gair, and Kluntz each chipped in a basket.

The Clippers put in eight baskets from behind the arc and three of six free shots. Madelia missed all four of its free shots, which were all in the second half.

The B girls return to action tomorrow (Tuesday) in a 7:00 pm contest against Nicollet in the middle school gym.
