While winter officially doesn’t start for another eight days, and there is scarcely a snowflake on the ground, this year’s Snow Week starts on Monday.
In preparation, a royalty coronation was held in the auditorium this morning (Friday).
Co-emcee Savannah Meyer crowned senior Lacey McCabe as the Snow Queen. Co-emcee Carter Kern presented the Snow King scepter to McCabe’s classmate Blake Lyons.
Meyer crowned sophomore Delaney Thompson Snow Baroness. Kern awarded the Snow Baron scepter to sophomore Tanner Simonette.
Meyer crowned eighth grader Clara Hilfer princess. Kern bestowed the prince scepter upon Hilfer’s classmate Pierce Lyons.
Other queen candidates were juniors Sierra McCabe and Samantha Baker. Other king candidates were senior Kale Kelley and junior Elijah Mons.
Other baroness candidates were freshmen Ava Kluntz and Kiya Sohn and sophomore Liviana Lee. Other baron candidates were freshmen Austin Anderley and Miles Tomaszewski and sophomore Braeden Smith.
Other princess candidates were seventh graders Anistyn Dauk and Addison Sandhurst and eighth grader Amelia Baker. Other prince candidates were seventh graders Evan Hoffmann and Tyler Smith and eighth grader Jackson Mons. Junior Vivian Hilfer stood in for Dauk.
Snow Week, which is about six weeks earlier than its usual date, features dress-up days and activities. For elementary students, Monday is “Merry Monday” with dress up in Christmas gear. For high school students, the theme is “Ugly Sweater.” The SOS activity is a Christmas movie in the big gym.
Tuesday’s dress-up theme for elementary students is “Candy Cane” with dress in red or white. For high school students it’s Pajama Day. The SOS activity is “Reindeer Games,” with coloring, card and bracelet making.
Wednesday’s dress-up theme for elementary students is “Grinch Day” with green the color. For high school students, its Santa hats and Christmas socks. The SOS activity is hot chocolate sales in the concession stand for a buck a cup.
Thursday’s dress theme for elementary students is Christmas PJs while for high schoolers it is Blizzard (white out). The SOS activity is bingo.
Because of the holiday concert, Friday’s theme is “Dress to impress your Christmas Best” for elementary students. For high school students, it is dressing up as a favorite holiday figure, such as a Christmas movie character, a gingerbread man, a reindeer or a snowman. The SOS activity is passing out candy cane grams.
