After dominating visiting Nicollet on Tuesday 45-21, the Clipper JV boys fell on the road to Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 42-38 on Thursday.

Braeden Smith put in four two-point baskets in the first half against the Raiders. Sam Ternes added a three and a two, Mason Kluntz contributed seven points, and the Clippers led 27-10 at the intermission.

In the second half, Gavin Karels (above) scored a two-point and a three-point basket. Carsyn Ryg added a three, and Clippers outscored the Raiders 18-11.

While no Clipper hit double figures, 11 had an entry in the points column. Smith had nine points in one half played. Kluntz had seven points, Karels had six points, and Ternes had five points. Kiptyn Coon and Ryg each had four points, and Zayden Linder, Alex Kortuem, Tanner Simonette, Miles Tomaszewski and Killian Kunkel each chipped in a bucket.

Ryg, Ternes and Karels each dropped in a three. The Clippers were six of 11 from the foul line. The Raiders made one three and half of their eight free shots.

In Granada, the Clippers trailed 19-16 at the half. Smith, only playing in the first half, led the effort with a dozen points, nine of them from three-point country. Ryg had eight points, Ternes put in a pair of second-half threes for a total of six points, Kluntz had five points, Karels and Coon each had three points, and Kortuem added one free throw.

The Clippers totaled seven threes. Ryg and Coon each put in one of them. The Clippers could have won the game from the foul line but were a lackluster five of 14 there. The Jaguars sunk a trio of threes and seven of nine foul shots.

The JV Clippers took on USC in Wells last night (Monday) and will host Cedar Mountain/Comfrey tonight (Tuesday).
