Continuing a rally that started before halftime, the C boys took over in the second half to beat Martin County West 48-36 in Sherburn on Friday.
With the Clippers up 10-9, the Mavericks spurted for seven points. Eighth grader Tony Hollerich, in his first game on C squad, put in the back end of two foul shots to stop the rally. Carsyn Ryg followed up with a three.
The Mavericks scored inside, but after Jack Mons plopped in another three, the Clippers only trailed by one at the break, 18-17.
With a pair of Kiptyn Coon buckets, a Mons two and a free basket and a Miles Tomaszewski three, the Clippers scored the first 10 points of the second half and never looked back.
Keeping the pressure on in a team effort, Ryg, back after a month out to heal a broken finger, added a three and a basket from the floor, Mons put in two more buckets, and Luke Heldberg, Zander Linder, Coon and Tomaszewski each contributed a basket en route to the Clipper triumph.
Ryg and Mons each had 10 points. Tomaszewski had nine points. Coon had eight points, Hollerich had five points, Heldberg had four points, and Linder chipped in a bucket.
Ryg scored twice from three-point country. Mons and Tomaszewski each had one three. From the foul line, the Clippers were off target, only hitting four of 17 free throws.
The Mavericks put in four threes and eight of 13 free throw attempts.
The C boys return to action on Monday when they host Madelia.
