Kiptyn Coon dribbling

Avenging one of their two losses, the C boys came back to beat visiting Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 54-39 on Monday.

The Clippers used a balance attack in the first half, but the Jaguars put in the last three baskets, including a steal and a layup to close the half, to lead 24-19 at the break

It helped the Clippers that the Jaguar’s leading scorer in the first half, saved for JV, exited the game at halftime.

Luke Heldberg pulled down an offensive rebound and scored to start the second half. Jack Mons did the same, and with a Miles Tomaszewski three from the corner, the Clippers completed a seven-point run that gave them a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

After the Jags put in a free throw, Jack Anderson bagged a three. After Zander Linder saved the Clippers from losing the ball out of bounds, Wyatt Krenik put in a basket for a 31-28 Clipper lead.

Later, Kiptyn Coon went to work for four baskets and a free throw, and Tony Hollerich rebounded and scored and then scored after he made a quick steal.

Coon had six points in the first half and nine in the second. Tomaszewski put in a pair of second half threes and a basket in the first half for eight points. Hollerich made a pair of buckets each half for eight points. Carsyn Ryg put in a pair of baskets in the first half and a basket and a free shot in the second half for seven total points. Mons made a basket in the first half and two in the second for six total points. Anderson scored from in front of and behind the arc in the second half for five points. Heldberg had three points. Krenik chipped in a bucket in the second half.

The Clipper made three threes and five of nine foul shots. The Jags also put in a trio of threes and were eight of 18 in free throws.

The C Clippers head to New Ulm tonight for a 4:45 game at Cathedral.
