Gavin Karels shot

After leading by a point at the break, the JV boys couldn’t sustain and fell to visiting Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 42-30 on Monday.

As the first half wound down, Jack Anderson bagged a pair of threes, and the Clippers led 14-13 at the half.

But the Jaguars came out with the first seven points of the second half and never looked back. Gavin Karels broke up the run with a basket from the baseline, and Jack Mons added a three soon after, but with a three and a layup, the Jags were in front 26-19.

Later, Miles Tomaszewski hit a three, Karels put in a pair of buckets and a free shot, and Carsyn Ryg spun for a bucket, but the Jaguars went on a stealing frenzy for three-straight layups before punctuating the victory with a three.

With a dozen points, Karels led the effort. Anderson had six points. Mons and Tomaszewski each added a three pointer. Ryg put in a basket from the floor and a free shot for three total points. Tanner Simonette made a basket in the first half. Mason Kluntz had one point.

The Clippers had four threes and made five of nine foul shots. The Jaguars also put in four threes and made two of six free throws. Their leading scorer played the first half of the C game.

The Clippers return to action tonight (Thursday) when they road trip to New Ulm for a 7:30 game at Cathedral.
