After a 48-24 loss to host New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday, the JV girls’ comeback against visiting Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons fell short, and they lost 37-32.

Emma Kortuem bagged a triple to put the Clippers in front of AG/GE 3-2. The Knights responded with a two and a three, but Kaitlyn Flowers and Kortuem each stole and scored on a layup, and Flowers sank a jump shot to put the Clippers in front 9-7.

The Knights rebounded and scored, but after a Brooke Bosse basket with an and one, the Clipper led 13-9.

But with two baskets from the floor and a three pointer, the Knights scored the next seven points. Kortuem put in a couple of free shots from there, but the Clippers tailed 18-15 at the break.

Kortuem took an inbounds pass up and in for the first basket of the second half, but the Knights went on a roll after, scoring the next 10 points.

Kortuem hit a two and a three, Harper Rutz ran in a basket, and Bosse rebounded and scored and followed up with a three, but time ran out on any chance for a comeback.

Kortuem, playing both halves, led the Clippers with 14 points, including a pair of threes. Bosse put in one three and had eight total points. Rutz, playing both halves, had four points. Flowers played only the first half and had four points.

The Clippers made five of 12 shots from the charity line. The Knights made a pair of threes and nine of 19 free throws.

The Clippers did a good job of stopping the Knights’ bigs, one 6-0, who ended the night with seven points, and the other 6-1, who totaled eight points.

Kortuem left the game at halftime while Harper Rutz entered, and the Clippers equaled their first half effort with 14 points.

With 10 total points, including a three-point basket, Flowers was the lone Clipper to hit double figures. Kortuem had eight points. Kluntz put in two second-half baskets for five total points. Sohn contributed three points, and Rutz chipped in a basket.

The Clippers made four of 11 foul shots. The Greyhounds made four three-point baskets and six of nine free shots.
