Continuing their reign over Madelia, the JV boys beat the host Blackhawks 38-27 on Friday.
After the Blackhawks went up 4-0, Miles Tomaszewski plopped in a three. Sam Ternes did the same, and the Clippers, who were coming off a 73-33 walloping by host St. James Area 24 hours earlier, led 6-4.
The Hawks made a three, but Ternes canceled it on the Clippers’ ensuing possession, and they never looked back from there.
Tanner Simonette followed up with a three, and with the Clippers’ first two-point basket, Jack Anderson ran a Mason Kluntz assist in for a layup.
With a Simonette basket from the corner, a Ternes three, a Charlie Perkins three and a Simonette drive for a basket, the Clippers had a cozy 29-10 lead at the break.
Madelia, who lost to Cleveland 53-44 earlier in the season, outscored the Clippers by three points in the second half, but the Clippers never lost control.
With a quartet of threes and a basket from the floor, Ternes led the Clippers with 14 points. Tomaszewski had eight points, including two triples. Simonette put in three buckets for six total points. Jack Mons made a second-half basket and free shot for three points. Perkins also added three points. Anderson had a first half basket while Kluntz made a second-half basket.
The Clippers had seven threes and made one of three free shots. The Blackhawks had four threes and made three of eight free shots.
At St. James, the Clippers were behind 39-19 at the break.
Ternes led the effort with 11 points, six of them launched from behind the arc. Gavin Karels had eight points. Tomaszewski made a two and a three for five total points. Kluntz added three points. Simonette, Luke Heldberg and Carsyn Ryg each contributed a basket.
The Clippers had three threes and made two of five free throws while the Saints rained 11 threes and made both of their two free throws.
The JV Clippers return to action today with a 2:00 p.m. game against West Lutheran at Bethany. On Tuesday, they take on host Mayer Lutheran at 6:00 p.m.
