Our band students and staff departed early Wednesday morning for their highly anticipated Florida band trip. On their journey, they planned a brief stop at Carroll High School for a band clinic. However, Mother Nature had other plans, and the weather quickly disrupted their travel. One group arrived safely at the school, while the other bus encountered difficulties, sliding off the road and waiting for several hours to be towed. This group ultimately made their way to Sac City, IA.

While there, the group received outstanding hospitality from the local community, including the Sac City Sheriff’s Department and the Sac County Road Department. The kindness of the community was truly appreciated during this unexpected detour. You can read more about the story in the local news coverage here:

Sac City Community Steps Up to Help Cleveland Band

Cleveland Public Schools would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Sac City Sheriff's Department, the Sac County Road Department, the staff at Carroll High School, and everyone else who helped ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff during the storm. Despite the delay, the buses resumed their journey to Florida Wednesday evening. While their arrival may be later than originally planned, they still have an exciting few days ahead. The students will enjoy time at Universal Studios, perform both there and at a local high school, and relax at Cocoa Beach. We wish them safe travels and unforgettable memories!
