Clipper B Girls Gain Experience in Season Opener

It’s been two years since Cleveland fielded a B-Squad girls basketball team, but laying the groundwork for a stronger program in years to come, the B-Squad returned to the court on Friday in a game against Nicollet/Mankato Loyola.

“It’s just good to be back in the flow of things,” said Chris Seely, who coached the team. “Some of the girls haven’t even played basketball before, but they got steals and got in the flow of things and had fun. That’s the most important thing.”

Free throws by Lilly Draheim and Serena Williams were the only Clipper points in the first half. The Raiders led 19-2 at the break.

In the second half, Micah Peterson scored inside, Greta Hahn (above) hit a layup and then a free throw, and Peterson sunk a three for the 34-10 final.

The Clipper Bs return to action on Monday when they travel to Trimont to take on Martin County West.
