Still early in the process of learning basketball fundamentals and applying them as a team, the Clipper B-Squad girls fell 26-7 to visiting Martin County West on Friday.
With the Clippers trailing 5-0, Laci Hollerich took a Micah Peterson handoff in for the Clipper’s only first-half basket from the floor.
The turnover bug plagued the Clippers most of the period, but the Maverick’s offense wasn’t that efficient either. Later, Greta Hahn tossed in a free shot, and the Clippers, down 7-3, were still in the game at the break.
But with Hollerich and Hahn saved for varsity and Mariah McCabe leaving the game with an illness, the Clippers were less experienced in the second half and only managed four more points, including two free throws from Emma Treanor (above).
Meanwhile MCW added 19 points to their lead for the decisive win.
