Improving in both the 1600-meter and the 800-meter from when he ran them on the same Janesville track eight days earlier, Tyler Erickson (above) earned the Valley Conference title in both events on Tuesday.
He finished the 1600 in 4:54.41 and the 800 in 2:08.69.
Also at the Valley meet, Nathan Strobel placed ninth in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:26.52. He was seventh in the triple jump with a personal record leap of 32-02.00.
Savannah Meyer placed seventh in the 800 with a personal record time of 2:52.30. She also placed fifth in the 1600-meter run with a personal best time of 6:03.42. In the triple jump, Meyer took eighth place with a PR jump of 27-00.00.
On Thursday, the junior high runners had their meet in Lake Crystal. There, Meyer had a perfect day. The eighth grader was first in the 800 with a 2:53.32 finish. She was also first in the 1600 with a 6:13.93 and was part of the 4x400 relay team, which finished in 5:32.25 but had no competition.
For the boys, seventh grader Mason Kluntz was seventh of eight runners in the 200-meter dash with a 38.12 finish. Kluntz also took sixth in the 400-meter with a 1:25.50 finish. He was 13th in the long jump with a length of 10-01.00.
Elijah Mons, also a seventh grader, finished fourth in the 400 with a 1:18.67 finish and was fifth in the 800 with a 3:01.28 finish. Mons’ triple jump of 20-08.00 was good for seventh place.
Eighth grader TJ Waldron was third in the 800-meter with a 2:48.05 time. In the 1600, Waldron was fifth of six runners with a 6:03.12 finish.
The varsity team returns to action on Tuesday with a meet at Arlington.
The girls and boys ran together in the 1600 at the junior high meet at Lake Crystal on Thursday. Savannah Meyer took first among the girls.
