The four-block trip from the school to downtown Cleveland on Friday afternoon was festooned with orange and black and bursting with Clipper pride as the homecoming parade sashayed through.
Led by legions of elementary students toting signs that extolled the Clipper football team, the parade featured the homecoming royalty and a float by each of the six high school classes.
As the Clippers were taking on the Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons Knights, a man in armor was an ubiquitous motif.
Before the parade, students rallied at a pep fest in the new gym. AD Rich Kern brought up all the high school sports teams for introductions. Royalty went through a competition course, and the pep band added to the festive atmosphere.
Perhaps because the last Clipper homecoming parade was two years ago, there was plenty of energy left over after this one.
Homecoming king Jackson Meyer, homecoming queen Emily Kern and fourth grade attendant Addyson Hoffman were front and center.

“You Rock” was the theme of the posters made by these elementary students.
The seventh-grade float featured a resting knight.
The theme of the eighth-grade float was “Steal the Knight.”
The ninth-grade float had the macabre theme of knights buried in a cemetery.
The sophomore float featured a boxing match.
The juniors went big with this float, which contained a disco mirror ball.
John Deere, a popular chant for CHS students at athletic contests, was the theme of the senior float. Behind it was a tractor, a John Deere...of course.
