Quickly taking over to dominate the first half, visiting Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial downed the B girls 35-17 on Monday.
Laci Hollerich took a Mariah McCabe pitch up and in from the baseline for the game’s first basket. Back on the Clipper end, Hollerich dove and slapped a ball heading out of bounds to Lacey McCabe, who drove the paint for a bucket that put the Clippers in front 4-0.
But the Knights didn’t allow another Clipper basket the rest of the half and were up 16-4 at the break.
Mariah McCabe stole and drove the floor for a layup and the first bucket of the second half, but the Knights scored the next nine points to extend their lead.
Lacey McCabe took the ball all the way down the court and scored to stop the run. A few trips later, Addi Holden put in a jumper, and then Lacey McCabe made a free shot.
Ava Lafrance, Hollerich and Lacey McCabe put in jump shots down the stretch.
Lacey McCabe led the effort with seven points. Laci Hollerich had four points. LaFrance, Holden and Mariah McCabe each chipped in two points. The Clippers made one of six free throws.
LCWM made a pair of threes and five of eight free shots.
The B girls will have another shot at the Knights when they return to the court for a road game on Saturday.
